Government of Ontario

Stop the Endless Construction Noise

You can read this open letter MPP Morrison and fellow MPPs sent to Premier Doug Ford about construction noise here.

TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:

WHEREAS the Ford government altered the lawful construction working hours to allow for a 6:00 AM start, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;

WHEREAS residents living near residential and commercial construction sites are jolted awake every morning by the sound of delivery trucks and
other construction noise;

WHEREAS many residential and commercial construction projects are not truly essential, yet are still being given essential status amidst the
COVID-19 pandemic;

THEREFORE WE, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to reinstate the previous City of Toronto noise by-laws for construction hours for residential and commercial projects immediately without delay and stop the endless construction noise impacting the quality of life of Toronto residents.
